For many years\, the movement's answer to that challenge was to encourage discussion of queer families and individuals in media\, schools\, advertising\, and more   hoping that acknowledgment would lead to validation. Today\, despite decades of progress\, advocates face backlash as some co-opt what was meant to make the children of LGBTQ+ families feel welcome\, and others criticize corporations for "pinkwashing" and not doing enough.
