Nonprofit Spotlight: Stonewall Community Development Corporation


Our nonprofit spotlight of the month is doing incredible work!  Stonewall Community Development Corporation is creating safe and affordable housing and healthcare for New York City’s LGBTQ+ seniors and families through a methodical and evidence-based strategy.

The generation that fought the Stonewall Rebellion for our rights is aging and vulnerable. Many do not have children to care for them. They face a senior services industry that is often openly hostile. Too many live in poverty, and many are isolated and alone.

Stonewall Community Development Corporation believes every LGBTQ+ senior deserves a safe, welcoming home they can afford and access to respectful health and mental health care that meets their unique needs.

Stonewall CDC delivers impact through number of programs and services:

• The Stonewall Bridge, building care and equity across queer generations

• Housing Assistance Program, support with housing search and application process

• Stonewall Village NYC, a virtual village with a purpose

• Leave No Veteran Behind, joint project with My Brother's House

• Housing Navigation Team Serving Brokers & Building Owners, to help fill vacancy

• The Community Properties Portfolio, community-owned portfolio of affordable homes, operated as a network with evoling designs for aging in place.

• Research and Market Development, addresses housing and health issues for LGBTQ+ older adults with evidence-based solutions
