About Us

Asempe Kitchen is a female and immigrant owned West African fusion catering company and pop-up that focuses on providing vegan and vegetarian options to traditional West African fare. We use healthier oils and spices in our cooking and sustainable serving ware and as often as possible local ingredients. Most of our dishes contain 7 natural ingredients or less, including the spices. We prepare and serve a spicy sambal that our guests can add to their meals so that they can adjust the spice level themselves. We believe that sharing our culture through food is a way to break the ice and interact with people who may be hesitant or shy about interacting with people unlike themselves. Kuukua Yomekpe is the owner and her mission is to aid Columbus residents develop curiosity and enthusiasm around African cuisine; she is not only adapting the dishes to the western palate, but more importantly to the fusion culture of the Columbus food scene.
